Minutes of the Gulf Coast Diva Angels Steak and Ale Restaurant Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2005
- Meeting called to order at 6:30PM. Marsha Wolak presiding.
- Welcome to members and guests. Guests included Susan Brzostowski, Kim Leto, Ester Halt, Jane Carnevale, Traci Coulter, BJ Everts, and Debra Wilbanks.
- Introduction of national and local officers
- Mission statement was read, which is available on our web site, DivaAngels.org.
- Costs of membership available on web site. We are a non-profit organization.
- Thank you to all volunteers who helped at Bucks County Custom Choppers on Oct. 15. It was their grand opening and benefited the Red Cross.
- Marsha announced a monthly Angel Appreciation Award and members voted to approve. In the future board members will send their nominations to the director via e-mail to select the winner. Sandy Brandt was selected as the first recipient for all her hard work and contributions to the group. Congratulations and thank you to Sandy! She received a set of chocolate shot glasses.
- Sandy talked about the Mega Money Christmas giveaway which had been approved at the national board of directors meeting last month. It is to raise funds for the national chapter to help defray all the start up costs and get it out of the red so it can begin to raise money to go to charity as the local chapters already do. There are 2500 tickets to be sold, raising a total of $6250. 100 prizes will be given ranging from $20 to $2000. The chance of winning is 1:25. The drawing of the winners will be held on Dec. 10 with a location to be decided. All members are asked to sell 25 tickets, if possible. All unsold tickets need to be turned back in and accounted for before the poker run on Nov. 20 to be sold there.
- Membership cards are now available and will be reissued each January when memberships are renewed.
- Rita McClain gave an update on the progress of the poker run on Nov. 20. The volunteers are set. All items for the auctions and baskets should be submitted no later than 1 week before the run. All pictures for the poster board should be turned in ASAP. We will also be taking pictures for the poster board at the ride on Nov. 5th. (The next promotional ride to distribute flyers will be Nov 5). Meet at Village Inn at 9 AM, for breakfast, with KSU at 10:30. We will be adding a bike show at the end of the run at the Hoosier Bar. Attorney John McKay will sponsor it and provide trophies.
- Scheduled monthly rides will begin in January. They will be the same day every month with a different destination. Rita handed out a ballot to pick the best days and times for everyone.
- Items that had been ordered are now in: name tags, license plates, hats, shirts, etc. (also sold on the web site).
- The annual Christmas party will be Dec. 9 at Marsha’s.
- Power of One drawing held: flowers won by Susan Brzostowski, Steak and Ale gift certificate won by Lynne Eilerman, who donated it to the poker run.
- Sandy presented the treasurer’s report. Be sure to say if checks for merchandise are for the local or the national chapters for book keeping purposes. She passed a roster to make sure the info for all members is correct. Any changes need to be updated to Sandy. The beginning balance was $807.34, expenses of $313.73, income of $344.00 for a current balance of $837.61.
- We now have a 7th chapter - Southwest Florida. It is based in Port Charlotte with some members from as far away as Fort Myers. Christine Frasch is the director.
- Holly Molinari-McDonald did the 50/50 drawing. $76 was raised. $38 went to the winner, Louise Tessier.
- There will be a Diva Angel happy hour in Daytona at Biketoberfest on Friday the 21st at Wise Guys on Main Street at 6 PM.
- Happy birthday to all born in October. Cake served and Happy Birthday was sung.
- Lynne Eilerman talked about the baby shower to be held for First Step on Dec.13 at 6:30 PM. It is to help mothers to be and new moms living there for treatment. She will have a list of items needed to be sent via e-mail. Please respond to Sandy. Bring the gift to our Christmas party if you can not attend the shower. Lynne will provide food. Forms are available to volunteer with rocking and feeding the babies as they need help with this as well.
- There will be a group attending McCurdy’s Comedy Club on Dec.5 for a performance of the Chippendale dancers. Anyone wanting to attend that does not have a reservation already needs to contact McCurdy’s directly and ask to be seated with the Diva Angels.
- Our next meeting will be Nov 15th. There will be a party in Dec, but no regular meeting.
- All members are invited to attend the other chapter meetings, They are held different nights to make this possible.
- We are working with Buck’s County Custom Cycles to organize a bike night on Wednesday nights in the future.
