Welcome by Director Donna Ryder and mentioned all DIVA August birthdays. Member Sue Brzostowski brought a guest, her sister Joann Morris –for the Power of One. Sue donated her gift certificate to our poker run. DIVAS share their stories: Sharon McCormack told of the Divas ride last Tuesday & the STORM! Ava Ciolli told of her very first I-75 & Skyway Bridge Ride! Rita McClain told her – NO Helmet Story! Marsha Wolak told her don’t leave home with out GAS story. Barrie Morelon starts her very first Motorcycle safety course in September. Activities Director for the balance of the year will be Susan Brzostowski –thank you! Sue is a new rider since 11/2005 & would like to have a committee to help her plan activities. Anyone interested in helping her plan to stay after the next meeting for an extra 5 minutes. We have the DIVA Wine Tasting party 8/17 @ 7 pm, part of the sales proceeds will be donated to our poker run. All Diva Bike Show 8/21 @ RJ Gators, Poker Run Promo Ride 8/26, breakfast(optional) 8:30 Village Inn & KSU 9:30 a.m.- ride to all dealerships. 9/16 & 9/30 the next 2 poker run promo rides same time & place. 9/26 the ride to Beanies Bike Night in Ruskin. West Coast Bike Fest in Oct 6,7 & 8. National Director: Marsha Wolak: we have 2 new chapters: The Tri-State Area (W. Va., KY & OH) & their 1st fundraiser is for a 6 year old boy whose dad just died. The other new Chapter is in the Tampa area called South Shore Chapter. Guest Speaker : BJ Everts from Habititat for Humanity told of the next ALL WOMAN BUILD house. Starts Oct 19,20 & 21 and then every week & weekend thereafter till about March. The DIVAS want to coordinate with Sue/Activities to plan a Saturday we can all build 7 am to 12 noon. This house will be for a single mom with 2 twin boys 14 years old that both have M.S. This will be a very different “Habitat” house as it will have lifts for their beds and the shower and special handicap features. Assistant Director, Teresa Rivas: get your photo of your self on your bike to Sue Goslin for the Diva Angel photo board for the poker run! 2 months from today is our poker run. Rain or Shine. Vendors call Tanya 941-378-1663 for a contract. Born to Ride magazine will print our poker run flyer in their magazine free! Rita McClain still needs lots of small gift basket items for the Chinese auction. RE-gift things you have at home that someone gave you as a gift that you never used! Or try to get small gift certificates for the cause & bring to the next meeting to Rita. The First Step baby shower was a huge success. Thanks to all who participated & to new DIVA Leslie Wright for making the carrot cake for the event. There are 100 DIVA Angel pins on order, should be here in time for the poker run. Sandy Brandt gave the treasures report in Tina’s absence. We are in good shape! We would like to have our chapter scrapbook ready to display at the poker run. If you have any news clippings about us or photos of you bring them in to Tina. Media /Marketing: Donna DeFant, the poker run press release goes out tonight SAVE THE DATE 2 Months away! If you see our press releases anywhere, bring them in! Fundraising: Donna Dubord 50/50 was $73. Donna Dubord won and gave her 1/2 to the Divas separate (not part of our treasury) “party fund”. Donna has a $1,000 value Party Bus for 20 people for 5 hours, $1,500 5 piece patio set, etc. etc. etc. for the silent auction for the poker run! Marsha suggests Donna put a complete list of the prizes on the website. Safety Director: Patty Sperling “Dumping a bike is no sin” article & discussion.
