Minutes of the Gulf Coast Diva Angels Crusty's Pizza Tuesday 7/15/08

Recognized birthday’s for July
- Good news sharing:
- Teresa Riva’s son Chase received a $2,000 scholarship from UCF-He is in his third year of college!
- Rita McClain married Lynn Eilerman’s son on Saturday. Rita is a justice of the peace.
- Rita’s daughter Lauren is in Texas singing for New Way, a Christian rock band. She is one of 19 that made it!
- Rita and her sister Mary are taking a “SISTER” bike trip to Savannah GA, leaving tomorrow for 4 days.
- Cynthia Trimarco thanked all the ladies that bought jewelry at the last meeting. $120 donation will be made towards Lynn’s pledge of $5,000 for Susan G. Komen.
- Donna DeFant indicated her bike should be back this weekend and hopes to ride with us Sunday!! Welcome back Donna and glad you are ok!!!!!!!!!
- Guest and new member: Betty Byrd! She is a new rider as of January 1st. Had a Harley 883 but now has a 1200 Sportster! Rush pipes have been added. We welcome her to riding and to our group!
- Teresa Rivas, membership director, indicated we have three new members that have recently joined. Jamie and Donna and now Betty!
- Donna DeFant-media and marketing director indicated Beth from Thunder Road Magazine wants charity ride info ASAP to put in magazine. The Creative Loafing article came out and was great! Donna will send a press release regarding the baby shower, 4th annual charity ride and other info.
- Discussion regarding the activities director position. Tanya Tedford was thanked for temporarily taking over the position after Laurie Blackwell’s accident. Marsha had volunteered to assist Tanya with sending out e-mails. Cynthia had called and talked with Laurie today and she overdid herself. She sounds good and wanted to come to the meeting but was too tired. She is not 100% yet and hopefully she will be back soon. Rita made a motion that we don’t have an official activities director at this time and have Marsha as the contact person for info, rides, etc. who will e-mail the group. Members were encouraged to send impromptu rides as well out to the group. Teresa seconded it and everyone passed.
- Laurie wants to help with the baby shower and Cynthia will contact her.
- Candy Roberts not present for secretary report.
- Donna DeBord not present for fundraising report.
- Patti Sperling not present for safety report but Sarah reminded everyone to wait after a rain to ride reminding about Donna’s accident in wet conditions. BE CAREFUL!!!!!
- Old business:
- Donna DeFant took last month’s minutes and sent them to Susan. They were
accepted by the members.
- Upcoming Charity Sponsorship Rides:
- Saturday, July 26th 8 AM The gathering place
This ride is the Bradenton ride and will include the following locations: The Gathering, Gulf Drive Café, Anchor Inn, Duffy’s, Bortells, Sand Bar, Rotten Ralph, Tequila Beach, Boiler Room.
- Second ride Saturday August 23rd
Meet at IHOP Sarasota on 301. Sarasota area.
- Third and final sponsor ride: Saturday September 20th. Location to be determined.
- Teresa challenged the members to try and get corporate sponsors of $500. Times are tough but still try and get individual sponsors.
- Major charity: Special Olympics
Minor charities: Second Chance Last Opportunity, Susan G. Komen 10% to past charities Total of 6 charities this year!
- Cynthia suggested a booth at GET DOWN DOWNTOWN to promote the ride and a booth at Peggy’s. Suggestion made to have a booth at the upcoming Will’s retirement party. Rita will find out the date and let us know.
- Teresa will prepare the sponsor letters and have copies for the ride.
- Sharon McCormick is joining the Eagles on Thursday and will talk with them about holding the end party there. Discussion as to the route for the ride. Two different routes were preferred but Teresa indicated the Manatee bridge is going to be closed for 45 days during that time. Suggestions as to alternate routes were made and will be finalized at the ride committee meeting. Teresa Rivas volunteered to have the first charity ride committee meeting at her home. It is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30th at 6:30. 4454 6th Ave. E.
Bradenton 34208. The committee consists of: Sarah Hammock, Marsha Wolak, Donna Ryder, LorettaWronowski, Betty Byrd, Kat Reyes, Rita McClain, Teresa Rivas, Donna Defant, Cynthia Trimarco, Susan Goslin, Sharyn McCormick.
- Cynthia Trimarco-First Step Baby Shower Coordinator
Cynthia hand made cards for each baby and they were passed around for individual signatures. She indicated that their budget has been cut eliminating a second step program was cut out completely and this is their only chance of making it. She reminded us all of the power of one where one person really can make a difference in this world. Cynthia had signup sheets made for shower gifts and food items for the shower. Looking for donations to buy gliders as well. Cynthia will determine the exact time of the shower and let us know. Recognition was made to Cynthia regarding the effort she has put into this baby shower. It is obvious she has dedicated much time and effort towards this amazing cause and the big winners are the mothers and babies that benefit from her efforts!! Everyone is looking forward to the shower. THANK YOU CYNTHIA!!!!!!!!!!!!
